I have a 2010 Focus 1.6 TDCI and I'm looking for some help diagnosing some EGR troubles. It started a couple of months ago when the car wouldn't start, with an 'engine malfunction', which the local garage had diagnosed as the EGR stuck open. True Ford Enthusiast. 5.1k. Name: Isetta. I think all modern engines are interference engines, I doubt if there have been any non-interference engines in last 20-30 years but I might be wrong. 1. Could someone give me some advice on the current issue I have with my Ford Focus. Its a bit of a story but I will keep to the facts about what I know. It sounds like when the pressure increases in fuel flow, the filter is delaying the output. I'd the filter is dirty and old, it could even stall the fuel flow enough to stall the car. Of course fuel floe drops the car stalls.

Posted March 23, 2013. Hi all, My 2006 Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi came up with an engine systems failure message today just coming off of a dual carriageway (70mph) accompanied by a red light next to the trip computer. I think it went into limp mode (severly reduced power, unwiling to rev much), so not good when you live at the top of a hill!
